I Never Realized How Many Parallels There Were Between Dying and Falling in Love

I went to the Opera today! (I decided on nice black pants, for the record.) Strauss' "Ariadne auf Naxos." I've never been to the opera before. It was nifty. Opera has always interested me in the respect that, when you get right down to it, it has the same basic origins as most of the theater we practice. Yet is such a different medium, with it's own traditions and culture. It has evolved in it's own particular way. I find this interesting. But I'm a geek.
I was surprised how much German I could hear and understand from the singing. Most of it was just a word or two in each line, and I did have the titles on, but I could also get the simple statements and exclamations that weren't translated.
I got back around dinner time, and for once I went when everyone else was just getting there too, and I didn't have to go hunting for people or eating alone or whatever. I sat down and talked and stuff for a while, and that was nice.

(Seriously though, I love the way Justice League: Unlimited is written. Sometimes the humor is almost Whedon-esqe. Or rather Whedon,Petrie,Noxon,Fury,Espenson-esque. Good stuff anyway.)
